For all businesses that bring in products from Europe the value of the US dollar is a vital factor in the prices they charge.

 

The value of the dollar has been in decline for the past six years and has declined significantly in the past year reaching $1.60 against the Euro as recently as two weeks ago.

 

As an importer of a number of European goods, Chief has had to deal with the declining dollar.  To limit the impact on our customers we continually look for ways to make our business more efficient and our financial team works to find ways to get the best value on our Euros.

 

In the New York Times today noted financial writer Steven Weisman writes the following article "Some Signs of Upturn for the Dollar", which talks about some positive signs for the dollar.  It gives a good history of where the dollar has been and some reasons to have optimism that the dollar will get stronger.
